Diapers:
Both cloth diapers and disposable diapers are available.

a. Cloth diapers: Cloth diapers are made of cotton and are much cheaper than disposable ones though washing them is a problem. Cloth diapers are kind to the baby's skin. Keep at least three dozen. Wash with a good disinfecting soap.

b. Disposable diapers: The only point in favour of disposable diapers is their convenience. You have to be careful to see that diapers are changed as soon as the baby wets them.

c. Diaper pins: Use the rust proof, stainless steel locking type of diaper pins. Keep at least four diaper pins. d. Diaper covers: Diaper covers are used over cloth diaper. They are absorbent and beautiful. Howe ever they some times cause diaper rash so make sure that diapers are not too tight. Wash diaper covers daily.

Toiletries:
Many fancy toiletries are available. How ever use as few toiletries as possible.

a. Soap: Use mild soap and baby shampoos. Avoid liquid soaps and deodorant soaps.

b. Baby lotion: Use a baby lotion only if the child has a dry skin.

c. Baby oils: Baby oils some times cause rashes. Do not use baby oil routinely. Do not use baby oils if you notice a rash after applying the oil.

d. Talcum powder: Do not use talcum powder because it irritates the baby's lungs.

e. Cotton balls: Always wipe your baby's eyes with cotton balls after bathing her.

f. Nail cutter: Use nail cutters with blunt edges.
